Meet Mr. Scott
Forest School Guide, Homestead Chef, and Wildling Favorite
Mr. Scott may not have been born into the McWilliams homestead legacy. Still, from the moment he married Miss Erin fresh out of high school, he embraced farm life, homesteading, and forest school education with an open heart. Though he grew up on a lake rather than a farm, Scott quickly adapted—learning to hunt, milk cows, process chickens, garden, and preserve food when Erin declared they were leaving city life for a more sustainable, hands-on existence.
With a resilient spirit and a can-do attitude, Scott has mastered every homesteading adventure Erin has dreamed up. Before joining her in launching McWilliams Heritage Farm, Folk & Forest School, Scott built a diverse career in sales, landscaping, logistics, and tech—owning a landscaping company, a FedEx route, and working with Epic Systems. His entrepreneurial background, combined with his love for the outdoors, primitive skills, and farm-based education, makes him an invaluable part of the forest school experience.
At forest school, Scott is known as the quiet but steady presence that Wildlings naturally gravitate toward. He is the favorite hike leader, outdoor game facilitator, and fire-building expert, offering a gentle, encouraging space for children who prefer a calmer pace of exploration. And if the Wildlings aren’t hiking with him, they’re eagerly awaiting his next batch of fresh-from-the-oven sourdough bread—a forest school staple that disappears faster than he can bake it.
When he’s not leading outdoor adventures, Scott can be found at home, apron on, spatula in hand, flipping French toast while helping one of his children convert an improper fraction. A true homestead chef, he seamlessly blends farm-to-table education with homeschooling, food preservation, and community-building—ensuring that whether at forest school or at home, there is always something nourishing (and delicious) to be shared.
